The Shining Thistle Pipe Band (STPB) is a Highland bagpipe and drum band based in Helena, Montana. STPB performs in parades, memorials, celebrations and other public events. We especially like to perform at events that honor men and women in the armed forces, police, firefighters, paramedics and other entities that make this country great. We are very proud to be the official pipe band of the First Special Service Force.

STPB honoring the lives of the last two FSSF veterans from Montana in April, 2012

To be associated with these heroes is a tremendous honor. In 2011 we designed a tartan in their honor that became the official tartan of the First Special Service Force and is also our band tartan. We also wear their signature V-42 Stiletto. In September of 2012 we will travel with the remaining members of the FSSF and many of their friends and family to Washington, DC where they will hopefully be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal and will celebrate their 70th anniversary. While in Washington, DC we will perform at Arlington Cemetary, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and many other significant locations. If you're interested in helping us fund this very important trip, please contact us.

We are glad that you found our web page and hope that you can attend some of our performances in the greater Helena area. Be sure to check our calendar for upcoming performances. We are always looking for talented people to join our band (no experience necessary!). We meet for practice every Thursday night at 6PM at the Salvation Army Church - 1905 Henderson Street in Helena. We would love for you to join us!

If you would like to book the band or for other inquiries please contact us.
